Today’s shake-up to the traffic-light travel system could hold sway on where families can go in the final days of the summer holidays

Holidaymakers in tourist traps including St Lucia and Morocco face a quarantine hotel upon their return as the UK updates its travel rules again.could be added to people’s holiday bills.

Travel consultancy The PC Agency said Covid rates in Spain and its Balearic islands are high enough to be put on the red list.Idyllic beaches in Jamica could soon be out of bounds for UK travellers But it’s unlikely to happen as such a move would plunge tens of thousands into a chaotic rush to get back – and there aren’t enough quarantine hotels to accommodate all the tourists currently there anyway.

This is because it has started supplying ‘substantial data’ to GISAID, a global database sharing figures on genetically sequenced coronavirus test samples.
