The GMB union has called on West Yorkshire Police to rethink plans to close public help desks.

People needing to attend a police station "would find the doors locked" if the proposals were implemented, a union spokesperson said.In a statement, the union said help desks at police stations in Wakefield, Pontefract, Leeds Central, Todmorden, Keighley and Stainbeck had closed.Image caption, Ms Dix said people attending a police station would instead be "directed to a yellow telephone near to the entrance where they would be put through to a contact centre".
