Readers discuss the games they’d like to see launch alongside Nintendo’s next console, from a new 3D Mario to Metroid Prime 4.
The subject for this week’s Hot Topic was suggested by reader Onibee and was based on the assumption that the new console will be roughly as powerful as a PlayStation 4 and that Nintendo wouldn’t release all its big hitters at once.
If the Switch 2 can offer PlayStation 4 level visuals then I can see third parties re-releasing lots of PlayStation 4 games for the new console, which would actually help fill the gap between first party exclusives and please a lot of Switch 1 owners. Elden Ring on Switch 2? I wouldn’t say no.What Nintendo did so successfully with the launch of the Switch was to stretch out a load of really prominent titles over at least the first year.
But my actual dream launch window games would begin with F-Zero GX HD. Nintendo have said multiple times they’re not sure what to do with F-Zero from here . I can kind of get it because GX is to me the greatest racing game ever made. It would be great to have it given a new coat of paint, with the AX content unlocked and perhaps some new tracks/racers and an additional story mode to go along with Captain Falcon’s excellent one.
I remain of the view that whilst my PlayStation 5 sees some action with Gran Turismo 7/F1 2023 and my kids’ FIFA and It Takes Two , other than Returnal there has been nothing stunning and to be frank Xbox seems similar. 3) How do modern games still have flat seas and Wave Race 64 is out there having a of super 3D waves? Please make a new one where 80% of the graphics go into rendering the water and let the art team carry the rest of the game.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie: The Game. The entire movie is 3D CGI, so the character models and surroundings are already made. I think we’re getting to the stage where, maybe counterintuitively, Nintendo could stand to generate more good will by making them next gen-only as there’s such a huge appetite to move away from the ageing Switch tech and not have it hold anything back unnecessarily.
