There might not be a beach, but there's water, an ice cream parlour, pedalos and more
As we near the end of the school holidays, most families have no doubt enjoyed a few days out over the long break.
It was rather a reluctant trip out for the kids mind - at almost 13 and almost 15, a walk with mum, dad and the dog isn't really their idea of fun - but we dragged them out anyway.We spent a couple of hours walking around the lake, letting our dog off for a swim and stopping off at the cafe we came across about half way round.
There are cheaper snacks like regular chips for £2.20, or beans on toast for £4.20, or you can get a kids meal deal with the likes of fish fingers, chips and a drink for just over a fiver. Along Lake Bank itself, it feels like you're on a day trip to the seaside - you can even hire a pedalo or boat from the activity centre if you like and they do paddleboarding, windsurfing and all kinds of activities.
And then, overlooking the lake is The Wine Press restaurant, which customers rave about - for the relaxed friendly atmosphere as much as the food - which sells kids meals for £4.50. There's also an ice cream van parked outside, selling slushies and milkshakes too.
