They're a frozen food staple but how do own brand nuggets compare from the big supermarkets?
They come to the rescue for many a time-poor parent and there's something comfortingly nostalgic about tucking into them as a grown up. Bags of frozen chicken nuggets can be picked up in shops for a fairly decent price and this week we put supermarket own brand chicken nuggets to the test, to see how they compare.
Once cooked, the breading crisped up nicely but the nuggets looked quite pale, rather than nice and golden. These are made from 'chopped and shaped' chicken pieces and the meat was a bit soft and mushy in texture. The breaded coating was crispy and had a bit of a crunch without being too hard, while the meat fell apart in my mouth.
