When it comes to the pumpkin spice lattes, Greggs can comfortably say it has beaten Starbucks in getting there first this year.
But it was a gutsy move for Greggs to begin selling their own take before the Starbucks’ classic even returned to the menu. In fact, Starbucks’ PSL won’t be officially on sale in UK stores until September 7 - although members of its Rewards scheme can now order it early.
However, my taste buds have somewhat adapted over the years - and now I’m scared it might now be too sweet for me. Sadly, my fears were correct. I could barely taste the coffee itself, which apparently features Arabica and Robusta coffee beans from Peru, Colombia, and Tanzania. Well, I wouldn’t know because all I could taste was the sweet, sweet syrup of a fake pumpkin.
