Was Glen one of Purdue Pharma's real-life victims?
is introduced by a real-life family member of a victim who died as a direct result of the impact of OxyContin. However, while viewers do get snippets of real stories to bring home the reality of the crisis and the lives impacted, none of the people mentioned during those introductions feature as victims in the series.
It feels as though the show wants to make a clear distinction between what is fact and what is a dramatised interpretation of those real-life stories. This could be the reason why the show opts to centre the story on the fictionalised character.Kitsch does, however, ground his portrayal of Glen on the personal experience of having a loved one who suffered with addiction.
