Police had nine reports of this type of scam within 24 hours this week
A warning has been issued as a number of older people in Northern Ireland have been targeted by scammers impersonating police officers this week.
No money has been lost in any of the incidents reported this week, the majority of which targeted people aged from their mid to late seventies to nineties, police said. "The perpetrators have one aim, and that's by preying on members of our older community to swindle them out of their money. The impact of this type of crime can be devastating, leaving a real sense of fear and causing serious distress.
