Perfect Sunday afternoon plan
This week's suggested walk is an excuse to visit another of Lancashire's hidden gem attractions. And maybe have a bit of a break from the Coronation if that's not your thing.
The route starts and ends in the Whitechapel, a tiny hamlet which sits in the civil parish of Goosnargh, and takes us to the picnic spot at Brock Bottom. The picnic site and nature trail is much loved by families and dog walkers, with the shallow water ideal for the adventure lovers to have paddle in.
There is much to explore within the trail including mill ruins and lots of riverside stretches. If you prefer to explore the entire trail, you can follow it all the way back to the entrance and simply retrace the first half of the journey rather than continuing on the circular route.The start and end point is the Cross Keys Inn - a bar and restaurant which also offers bedrooms for those staying longer.
The walk covers a distance of around 3.7 miles and has been created using the Footpath app. It has not been tested in person so if you'd prefer to avoid any risks, stick to the road options rather than using the fields. You can also return to the entrance of
