After the final whistle, footage showed Williams walking around the pitch in tears.As he realised the camera was aiming his way, he looked straight down the lense and said: “That was for you grandad.”Williams then said on Twitter: “Yesterday was the toughest news I’ve ever had to face and that was listening to my mum tell me my grandad past away last night.
“To go from crying all day to start in a World Cup game was extremely tough but I got through it from the support of my team mates and family.”The youngster played 79 minutes of Wales’ first World Cup game since 1958, carrying on after going down with a back injury ten minutes before.
