Lucy Letby: Video footage shows first arrest and police interview after murdering 7 babies
She was found guilty by a series of partial verdicts, delivered several days apart, with the judge issuing reporting restrictions until the end of the trial. The third clip released by Cheshire Police shows Letby’s first police interview later that day, 3 July 2018, where she discussed “a rise” in the mortality rate on the unit.
Nick Johnson KC said that Letby was a “constant malevolent presence” in the hospital’s neonatal unit, and that she had searched for the names of the babies parents. In August 2015, Child E’s mother went to visit him at around 9pm when he was due to be fed and found him “acutely distressed and bleeding from his mouth”.
