Kirk Wharton appeared at Nottingham Crown Court and was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison
A shoplifter ran straight into officers as he attempted to run from a store. Kirk Wharton had been stealing from the Co-op store in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, on Tuesday, August 15, when he was spotted by police.
Wharton tried to escape when he spotted the officer but ran straight into police at the front door. Wharton, of no fixed address, was subsequently charged with 25 shop thefts, worth approximately £2,250.Nottingham Crown Court heard the charges related to a string of thefts committed by Wharton at Co-op stores in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, and Beckhampton Road, Bestwood, between 18 June and 8 August 2023.
Wharton pleaded guilty to all 26 counts and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, August 25, when he was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison.
