Prince George is named after many key members of the royal family - but when it comes to his first name, it seems that came from a very unique source within the Wales family

It is a huge challenge to name any new royal baby, especially if that youngster is destined to one day be king or queen.

The Prince and Princess of Wales' first child, Prince George Alexander Louis was born on July 22, 2013. The future king was the latest in a long line of royals to be born at St Mary's Hospital in West London, joining the likes of his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry. And Louis is a name used by the royals to honour Lord Louis Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s uncle who was murdered by the IRA in 1979. The name is also carried by King Charles, Prince William and his younger brother Prince Louis.

It seems impossible to believe that there was a chance the young royal could have had another name but it seems he wasn’t originally going to be a George - but rather an Alexander. Nicholl added that during her pregnancy, the Princess referred to George as ‘our little grape' and that she had a hunch she was carrying a boy because he kicked so much.

"They were devastated when Lupo passed away," a source previously told the Daily Mail. "It was hoped that a younger dog would give Lupo some company and give him a little more life and energy."
