Vlatko Andonovski has selected the same starting line-up he used in the USWNT opening match against Vietnam. Less than an hour until kickoff vs. the Netherlands… FIFAWWC
Inheriting the mantle from back-to-back World Cup winning head coach Jill Ellis would never be easy but Adonovski has made a generally positive impression on the role since his appointment in 2019.
Adonovksi has won four SheBelieves Cups, a CONCACAF Championship and took Bronze at the Olympics. However, for a team that expects to win everything, success at the World Cup will be the standard by which he is judged. Born in North Macedonia, Andonovski played for several teams in his home country before moving to the U.S. in 2000, becoming a citizen in 2015.
Initially becoming Missouri Comets’ assistant manager in 2010, he would take the top job in 2012 before later taking over Kansas City, balancing his work alongside studying for a Bachelor's degree in Business administration and a Master’s in Soccer Coaching Education. Before succeeding Ellis, Andonovski twice won the NWSL coach of the year award, in 2013 and with his final club side Reign FC in 2019, guiding them into the play-offs.
