US representative Henry Cuellar is back at work after being carjacked on Monday night by three armed attackers less than a mile from the Capitol in Washington DC.
His chief of staff Jacob Hochberg released a statement on Monday night saying: “As Congressman Cuellar was parking his car this evening, three armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle. Luckily, he was not harmed and is working with local law enforcement.” Mr Cuellar spoke to reporters after attending a meeting with fellow Democratic members of the House of Representatives. Colleague Brad Schneider said Mr Cuellar was acknowledged by colleagues during that meeting, saying “we’re all grateful that he is safe”.
