The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning about a number of Tesco chilled products

Tesco shoppers are being urged not to eat one of the supermarket's chilled products as it may contain plastic and metal.

The supermarket giant is warning shoppers about a number of pastry products that may be unsafe to eat. Among the affected items are The Finest steak and ale pie with the best before date of September 1, and six Tesco cheese and onion rolls with a best before date of August 31. Also included in the alert, which has been issued via the Food Standards Agency , are 20 Tesco mini sausage rolls with a best before date of August 29, and nine Tesco mini pork sausage rolls with a best before date of August 30.All the products have now been urgently recalled by Tesco. The FSA warning says the products 'may contain pieces of metal and plastic which makes them unsafe to eat'.

In the alert, Tesco has apologised for the inconvenience, urging customers not to eat the products if purchased and instead return them to a store for a full refund with no receipt required. The FSA warning continued: "If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund. No receipt is required. For further details, please contact Tesco Customer Services directly on 0800 505 555."
