Ukraine’s armed forces claim that the Russian military has planted possible explosives on the roof of theUkraine’s Strategic Communications Directorate said on Tuesday night that Russian forces who have occupied the site in southern Ukraine since March 2022 appeared to be preparing a “provocation” in the near future.

Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address on Tuesday that “the only source of danger” to the plant was Russia – adding that there was no telling what Vladimir Putin might do after the recent destruction of the, which caused extensive flooding along the Dnieper river and forced thousands from their homes.

Mr Zelensky spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday evening, later adding: “I warned my colleague that the occupation troops are preparing dangerous provocations at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. We agreed to keep the situation under maximum control together with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”
