UFC 294 is set to deliver one of the most highly-anticipated rematches in the sport on just 11 days notice
Former champion Charles Oliveira was scheduled to be Makachev’s opponent this weekend but suffered an injury in sparring, which led Volkanovski to step in, much to fans’ excitement. The rematch allows Makhachev to silence any of his doubters, while Volkonovski could become just the fifth simultaneous double champion in UFC history.
There are also several British fighters on the card, including featherweight Nathaniel Wood and bantamweight fighter Javid Basharat. Flyweight prospect Muhammad Mokaev is scheduled to headline the prelims against former title contender Tim Elliott.UFC 294 is taking place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 21. Due to the location, the event is unfamiliarly early to UK fans. The main card is expected to begin at 7pm, with the prelims starting at 5pm.
