Uber warning after woman wrongfully charged £80 cleaning fee for being sick in taxi
A woman has issued a warning to Uber users after claiming her daughter was left stranded after she was wrongfully charged £80 for 'throwing up in a taxi'.
Kia had used the Uber app to order a ride home after a night out in Bolton in the early hours of Saturday, July 8. She arrived home without incident but then two weeks later realised she had been charged an extra £80 cleaning fee.When Kia queried the fare, she was told she had been charged extra for a cleaning fee after she was sick. This is despite her claiming she did not vomit in the taxi.
He mum Zoe told the M.E.N. "The money came out of her account 12 days after the journey. She was in town and she couldn't get back because £80 had come out her account and she didn't know why." Uber have since refunded Kia the £80. But Zoe wants to highlight the issue to warn others who may face similar issues in the future.
