Uber Files: Huge leak of confidential documents blows open murky background of ride-hailing app
After combing 124,000 leaked documents, investigative journalists have accused the tech giant of using a"kill switch" to stop authorities from seizing evidence and lobbying officials to drop investigations.
"When we say Uber is a different company today, we mean it literally: 90% of current Uber employees joined after Dara became CEO," Ms Hazelbaker said. The company's lobbyists - including former aides to President Barack Obama - sought to persuade government officials to drop their investigations into the company, rewrite labour and taxi laws and relax background checks on drivers, the papers show.The investigation found that Uber used"stealth technology'' to fend off government investigations.
