A 33-year-old man was arrested in Omagh and a 57-year-old man was arrested in Belfast
Two more people have been arrested as part of the attempted murder investigation into the shooting of DCI John Caldwell.The pair have been arrested under the Terrorism Act. The PSNI believe dissident Republican group the New IRA was behind the attack.Four men previously arrested in relation to the shooting at a youth sport facility in Omagh last Wednesday night were released on Tuesday, while another two men remain in custody having been arrested in recent days.
Senior PSNI officer Caldwell remains in a critical but stable condition after two masked gunmen approached him and fired 10 shots in the car park of Omagh Youthsport. "Detectives investigating the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Major Investigation Team on Wednesday 22nd February at the Killyclogher Road area of Omagh have made two further arrests," a PSNI spokesperson said.
"A 33 year old man was arrested in Omagh and a 57 year old man was arrested in Belfast earlier today. Both were arrested under the Terrorism Act and taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
