The BBC One comedy series, which stars Arabella Weir, Kieran Hodgson and Alex Norton, started life as a one-off special written by Carlyle in 2013.was later commissioned for a full series in 2016, and in February this year was renewed for a seventh series.
Jon Petrie, BBC's Director of Comedy Commissioning, was one of many colleagues to pay tribute to Carlyle following his passing. "Simon was a wonderful comedy talent who, amongst many other credits, co-created and wrote the multi award winning series"His warm comic voice shone through these characters, garnering huge audience affection, and firmly establishing it as a long-lasting sitcom favourite. Our sympathies are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
