Isabella Imrie Cowell passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Braeside Home For The Elderly in Oswaldtwistle on August 29, aged 94. Ella, as she was affectionately known, joined Accrington Brick and Tile in Altham as a clerical worker around 1950.
“Since she moved into Braeside Home For The Elderly last April, the staff have been very kind to her and friendly.” Ella, who was born in Scotland, first moved to Church. When Jim got a job in Bacup, the family moved to the town in 1963. They moved to Baxenden in 1964 and subsequently moved to Oswaldtwistle, before finally settling into Bamford Crescent in Accrington where Ella was a well known, friendly and loved character for more than 30 years.
