Breaking: Tragedy as woman dies after car crashes into lamppost and tree in Leyland
Lancashire Constabulary were called to West Paddock in Leyland following reports that an Audi A1 had left the road and mounted a grass verge. The vehicle then collided with a lamppost before colliding with a tree.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service rescued the driver, a woman in her 30s, from the damaged car. However police said she suffered 'serious internal injuries that sadly later proved fatal'. The incident happened at 11.20pm on Wednesday and officers are appealing for information and witnesses.A force spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a fatal road traffic collision in Leyland on Wednesday night.
"Lancashire Fire and Rescue attended to rescue the driver – a woman in her 30s – from the damaged car. She suffered serious internal injuries that sadly later proved fatal."Any information, please email [email protected] or call 101, quoting log 1498 of October 12."
