Just how festive will Christmas feel? It’s the most dramatic time of the year in soapland, and it seems to be no different for the residents of Coronation Street this year. As 2023 draws to a close, there is a mixture of tragedy and joy laced throughout the festival specials. And the cast is going through some changes, as the iconic Peter Barlow makes his poignant and eventful departure, while a familiar face is treading the cobbles.
‘Bethany’s back and we’re all fantastically excited, she’s incredibly well liked around the building, the viewers love her,’ Iain enthused. ‘She’s a slightly different proposition now from when we last saw her – there’s been a number of years that have elapsed, she’s grown up quite a lot, she’s had the beginnings of a successful journalism career in London and she turns back up and is instantly a foe for Daisy.
