Rumours have circulated for years that the shopping centre has a built-in extra level hidden in plain sight
Persistent rumours of a 'secret' fourth floor hidden in plain sight in The Trafford Centre have circulated for years.
So where did this conspiracy theory come from? Look directly up from the top level of shops and you'll see that there is a ceiling covering the walkway along the full length of the mezzanine. Developer John Whittaker said in a 2011, Financial Times interview that the mall is 'future-proofed', with what the paper paraphrased as 'prepped areas for additional floors, mezzanines and extensions'.
It started when Reddit user DazRave posted the picture on the r/Manchester sub, claiming "the Trafford Centre has got a hidden floor for future shops".
