Bosses at Thwaites Brewery have unveiled plans to create a huge outdoor seating area at a popular Ribble Valley pub - but worries have been lodged over traffic in the area.
In 1980 the pub became the cornerstone of the pub company's move into hotels. The five star-rated inn has 23 en suite bedrooms as well as an award-winning restaurant.In the application submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council, Thwaites said: "The growing desire for external dining has exposed limited existing availability at Millstone Mellor and our proposal looks to remedy that. The garden area has an existing shed, located beyond the bin to the rear carpark area.
"To provide sound attenuation, anew planter and 2m high fence and the new pavilion will be installed. These should ensure that the neighbouring area is not impacted by sound transfer."
