The Kilmarnock gaffer was offered the chance to take over the top role at Ibrox in December 2017 but opted to remain with Aberdeen. Following his exit from the Pittodrie club he spent a spell on the sidelines before taking over the main gig at Rugby Park. He guided the club to the Scottish Championship title before keeping his troops up in the top flight last term.
