Reckless Darren Greenham given 15 years in prison for causing massive gas explosion that killed toddler George Hinds
The drunk and drugged up neighbour whose reckless actions caused a huge gas explosion, killing a two-year-old boy, has been jailed for 15 years.
Sentencing, Recorder Robert Altham said: “Greenham was a selfish and disruptive neighbour. He lived without regard for the comfort of those who were unfortunate enough to live adjacent to him." On the night of the explosion, Greenham had arranged for the gas supply to be turned off by another person. That person could only be "incompetent at best", Recorder Altham says. He adds that expert evidence explained the smell and sound of the gas leak would have been obvious.
