Parts of England will be battered by heavy rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday following days of sunshine and hot temperatures
However, the Met Office said it was too soon to tell whether this month will be the hottest September on record.
While temperatures are currently returning towards average for this time of year, the Met Office predicts that temperatures will return to above-average towards the end of September and early October. Simon Partridge, a Met Office forecaster, said: “Longer range models look as if towards the end of September and into early October…the most likely scenario at the moment is to see a further spell of higher pressure developing across the UK, which will bring more settled weather once again.”
