The coin was created for the 250-year anniversary of Kew Gardens opening back in 1957
People are being urged to check their change after a rare 50p coin sold for a huge £165 on eBay recently.
It has the Queen's face on one side as normal, but the other side features famous Chinese Pagoda at the Royal Botanic Garden, Liverpool Echo reports. But after an intense bidding war, the price began to soar and the final figure was £165 - plus £1.70 for shipping. If you've checked your change and you do come across one of the Kew Gardens 50p coins, you should check the date on it first. This is because the Royal Mint reissued a batch of the coins in 2019 to celebrate 50 years of the 50p - and this version doesn’t tend to sell for as much.
