👉 As many as 25,550 new homes could be built in flash flood risk areas without proper drainage in place, one of the nation’s largest insurers has warned
November 28, 2022 6:01 am
Planning permission has been submitted to build 35,282 homes in risk areas between June 2021 and June 2022, the report commissioned by LV=General Insurance suggests – with nearly three-quarters likely to be approved. The report also warned that flood mapping is often not being done to assess future flood risks, which means that the effects of increasing rainfall, drier summers and rising sea levels are not factored in to planning decisions for new homes.
