One of Britain’s oldest sets of Christmas lights – which hasn’t had any bulbs replaced for 54 years – has been turned on for the festive season once again. They cost just £3 from Woolworths in 1969 and still sparkle as strongly as ever 🎄
The Christmas tree lights have been passed down the generations and now belong to Ross Farr-Semmems
The fairy lights were first bought by Vina Shaddick from Woolworths for £3 in 1969, and they continue to shine brightly in her son Ross’s home. But for the first time in 15 years, they had been taken off the tree last year so the tree could be redecorated. ‘I just hope they are still shining for years to come – and may they do another decade at least and see where we go from there.’
