. I feel obliged to respond to its content and provide a constructive rebuttal to the various issues and criticisms he raised in relation to my Long Letter of October 18.
I believe the essence of his argument is that an approach based on the WHY of independence as opposed to concentrating on the HOW and using the General Election first-past-the-post system of “majority of seats” as a clear mandate to immediately start independence proceedings is lost before it starts becauseWell, I beg to differ. It is NOT the same again! Of course the SNP have had and continue to have mandate after mandate both atand Westminster.
The party has changed the previous approaches of its leadership and consigned them to history. The new team approach of a robust leader/FM and a more confrontational approach towards Westminster is beckoning. With the inclusion of a constitutional convention and independence-dominated market strategy and a re-energised party and Yes movement, the can will not be kicked anywhere.The SNP and its allies will challenge the Westminster government like never before.
Overall, in my view Mr Taylor poses many questions and offers much speculation about motives but sadly very little in the way of concrete solutions and definitive actions relating to the independence dilemma. Perhaps addressing HOW we take the initiative away from a belligerent, non-cooperative and intransigent Westminster may have been more productive.
