The UK's oldest lido has reopened after 40 years 🏊♂️ 🔵 Cleveland Pools were built 200 years ago to stop men from swimming naked in the River Avon

A quick round of applause – so British – followed by huge grins as limbs cut through cool blue water. “You’re swimming through history” cried a member of the restoration team, as the UK’s oldest lido, Cleveland Pools, reopened after 40 years. After funds of £8m were raised, the lido can now offer a new way to take a dip in, a city famous for its water.
What was once the Ladies Pool is now a small museum space; other modern additions include outdoor showers, lockers and toilets. Through the trees, the emerald-green Avon drifts past.
