but we are still heading over the cliff at 80 miles per hour.continues to rise – whether it’s basics like food and drink, energy bills skyrocket, mortgages and inflation are at staggering levels while wages continue to stagnate.

I have been contacted by many constituents telling me they might lose their house, and many are in despair having to face the agonising choice of whether to heat or eat over winter. People have given up their family pet because they just can’t afford to keep them. The hardship caused by the Conservatives is palpable.

It is a fact that low-income earners are used to managing their money. They have become adept at budgeting and living on very little. Many often use cash so that they can physically see when they are coming to the end of their budget. These people are not poor; they are proud citizens working for a living, they just need and deserve higher wages.

I’m sure many will be wondering why it is that this Conservative Government joined the country in recognising the value of key workers during the coronavirus pandemic but will do little now. The Government showed us which side they are on when they attempted to abolish the 45p top rate of tax. Their mini-Budget has been found to overwhelmingly benefit people with higher incomes, according to Full Fact. This exposes their true intentions – and they’re not even attempting to hide it.
