Knives have become the weapon of choice for some

offenders for protection after a previous attack, for self-defence or during gang-related drug wars. The courts have heard and seen it all - with some attacks tragically ending with murder or serious injury - in one split-second moment of madness.

Robin Simandi-Curtis Desperate gambler Robin Simandi-Curtis was jailed on Thursday, July 6, after he robbed Grosvenor Casino, in Maid Marian Way, Nottingham, on Wednesday, March 8. The man pushed him away and escaped - but passed out and woke when police arrived. Officers arrived and the victim was in and out of consciousness and he remained in intensive care until the following day. He spent five days in hospital before discharge and has since relocated in this country.

Gray, of Ollerton, was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place. Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, August 16, he also pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman inside a flat in Ollerton on July 12.Do you agree with police using facial recognition software? Griffiths was later cleared at Nottingham Crown Court of attempted murder - but had pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Robert Johnstone Robert Johnstone, of Shrewsbury Road, Worksop, was found sleeping with a 12-inch knife up his sleeve at The Canch Park, Worksop, at around 2pm on August 31, 2022.
