The last 12 months has seen a steady stream of Noughties trends re-entering the fashion market.
It’s 2003. Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are the hot celeb couple dominating tabloid headlines, Beyoncé has just been awarded Best Female Video forat the MTV music awards, and Phoebe Philo is two years into her tenure as creative director of Chloé.
Asymmetric, ruffled, bias-cut and body-skimming, you can spot a Noughties party dress from a mile off. It’s giving Paris Hilton at the Teen Choice awards,’s Marissa Cooper at a Newport Beach party, and also a generous dose of Year 6 school disco. Thankfully, the 2022 re-editions are altogether more refined, with the likes of Victoria Beckham, Blumarine and KNWLs all re-interpreting and elevating the Noughties dress in their spring/summer 2023 collections.
