The inspiring and passionate Accrington teachers still fondly remembered by former pupils
The Accrington Observer has been inundated with responses after asking the community which teachers they remember fondly from school.
“During my GCSE period I was close to giving up and walking away from school with nothing but Mr Clarke had a chat with me and basically made me realise my potential. The time and effort he put into helping me get back on track was second to none and I couldn’t thank him enough. She said: “He was my favourite teacher because he was comical, he always had a smile and was just a genuine kind hearted man who also supported you if you needed it. He was always there with a kind word and advice as I got bullied through school so always helped put a smile back on my face.Lynne Whalley from Fern Gore says she could never forget her maths teacher, Mr Terry Neville from Holy Family, now named Mount Carmel High School.
Sarah Howorth from Clayton-le-Moors remembers her former headteacher, Mr Alasdair Coates, from St Christopher’s CE High School on Queens Road West for being patient with her and pushing her to do her best. She said: “He was fabulous.
