The hidden gem holiday cottage near the Lake District with donkeys and a garden the size of a football pitch
Tell anyone in Manchester you're holidaying in Cumbria and thoughts immediately turn to the Lake District and the tourist hotspots around Windermere.
Finding it was a little tricky at first. It's one of those places you'd never know is there until you have to get to it, much to the dismay of our Tesco delivery driver who'd taken several wrong turns before eventually finding us. There's a suntrap patio area and seating for when we do 'get the weather'. Sadly we didn't get much in the way of sunshine, but there's not much feet-up time when you've got a dog on the go and a son requiring you to be goalkeeper, so it didn't really matter.
We had another walk/swim at Bassenthwaite Lake where the restored railway station is home to a replica of the Orient Express, which you can climb aboard to have breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.
