Nestled within the heart of a historic park in Blackburn is a colourful footbridge that leads nowhere. And although it has a dead end, what you'll find at the end of the steel structure is amazing views of the Lancashire landscape.
The rainbow-coloured structure was designed by Jo Rippon Architecture with artist Sophie Smallhorn. The cannon battery was originally installed for the Park's opening in 1857 to house two Russian cannons captured during the Crimean War.It had fallen into disrepair and the vibrant design of Colourfields means parts of it were preserved instead of being destroyed.
