Universities in the Liverpool City Region contribute £2.7billion to the local economy and support 18,9000 full-time equivalent jobs
Universities contribute almost £5billion to Greater Manchester's economy and support tens of thousands of jobs, according to a new report.
"As economic hubs in their own right, universities support and create a huge number of jobs across multiple sectors, meaning people up and down the country benefit financially, whether or not they have a degree. According to the report, universities support 768,000 full-time equivalent jobs and contribute £116billion to the UK economy as a whole. That figure rises to £130billion when the spending of international students is included.
