👉 The virtual queue to secure home delivery slots in time for Christmas surpassed 100,000 by 6am

ByTesco customers trying to book a Christmas delivery slot were left angry and frustrated after the virtual queue surpassed 100,000 people by 6am before the website crashed.Delivery saver customers were told they could book a slot from 6am on Tuesday, but some claimed access was granted ahead of the advertised time.

Shoppers were left fuming after waiting in the queue for two hours only to be presented with the message: “Sorry, something went wrong.” One customer tweeted: “Come on Tesco – started at over 136,000th in the queue at 6am , and after almost two hours of waiting, the app isn’t working!” Another said they had been kicked out of the queue after twice trying to secure a slot. “Been chucked off the Tesco Xmas quest system twice now,” the customer said. “Woke up at 6am to 140,000, got down to 90,000 an hour later and then got chucked off, now back to 230,000. Been a loyal customer for years, this is a joke!”

Delivery saver customers pay a monthly or annual fee for access to priority collection and delivery, depending on the plan, for Christmas slots as well as for other benefits. Some customers said it was not the first time the Christmas booking system had been chaotic.
