Lancashire Constabulary said the incident reportedly happened on Blackburn Road in Rishton, close to the cricket club, shortly before 9am. Officers received reports that three men had approached a woman in a vehicle as she was in traffic.
They attempted to open her car doors but she was able to drive off. One passer-by who witnessed the incident posted on a local Facebook page: "Between 8.30am and 9 this morning 3 lads in their early 20s tried to hijack a car on Blackburn Road near the cricket club with a lady and young girl in."Luckily the doors where locked and she was able to drive off. Lock your doors if you are driving about.
A force spokesperson told LancsLive: "We were called at around 8.55am on Monday to reports three men had approached a woman in a vehicle as she was in traffic. They attempted to open her car doors but she drove off. "We’ve carried out enquiries and are asking anybody with information to get in touch on 101, quoting log 412 of June 5."
