The former St Michael’s School pupil came through the Hornets’ youth ranks under Tom Walley, making his debut when he was still an apprentice in a 4-0 victory over Burnley at the end of the 1979/80 season.The gifted striker of the ball would go on to flourish during the club’s golden era under Graham Taylor, scoring a total of 52 goals in 298 appearances in all competitions, including six when he returned on loan in the 1990/91 season.
