At least 20 young people have lost their lives so far this year
The number of teenagers stabbed to death inThe boys, aged 15 and 16, were killed in separate knife attacks six hours apart on Monday.
Senior police officers have warned violence may rise over the summer months as it did last year when lockdown measures were eased. According to figures from City Hall, in 2012 there were nine teenage killings. There were 12 in 2013; 13 in 2014; 19 in 2015; and 13 in 2016. A witness told the Evening Standard he tried to use an umbrella to fight them off. He died at the scene in Woolwich New Road as members of the pubic and paramedics desperately tried to save him.
