'Residents are angry'
West Northamptonshire Council has voted against a proposal to create a task force to tackle fly tipping. There have been almost 4,000 incidents of people dumping waste that were cleaned up by the council this year alone - around ten per day.
It included holding an all-party summit involving the council, contractors Veolia and Norse, Neighbourhood Wardens, the Litter Wombles and PCSOs to come up with a new action plan. But it was then voted down by other councillors who said they felt they were already doing enough to stop flytipping.Proposing the new initiative, Councillor Bob Purser said: "It was reported that 3,980 incidents of fly-tipping were reported as having been cleared up this year.
"Residents are angry and some are taking their frustration on local councillors. Councillors who are doing their best to tackle the problem, it’s not fair and not right. We need a joined-up approach to tackle the problem.”At NorthantsLive we're more than just news. We cover what people are talking about every day and celebrate the very best that this incredible part of the world has to offer.
Councillor Wendy Randall, Leader of the Labour Group, accused Councillor Larratt of not understanding Labour’s motion saying: "All you have done, is tell us what you are already doing.
