Scientists have seen a huge increase in the painful condition, with obesity one of the major contributors.

Up to one billion people across the world will soon suffer from an incurable condition called osteoarthritis, scientists have warned.

Risk of developing the condition increases with age, with international research stating that the form of arthritis ranked seventh amongst causes of disability amongst those aged 70 and over. In 2020, 595 million people were found to have the condition, an increase of 132 per cent from 256 people in 1990.What are the symptoms of osteoarthritis? The research also expects more women than men to be diagnosed with the condition, with 61 per cent of cases in 2020 female while 39 per cent were men.
