A swan has been mauled to death in a Blackpool park by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier just one month after surviving an earlier dog attack at the same location.
In a statement, Brambles Wildlife Rescue said: "Jesse, a beautiful swan we rehabilitated last month from a suspected dog attack on Stanley Park, has been killed this lunchtime by a Staffordshire bull terrier at the same location. The incident has been witnessed and is believed to be on CCTV, the police have been informed.
Replying to the Facebook post, one person said: "Heart-breaking. There are enforcement officers patrolling the seafront issuing fines to dog owners. They should do the same at the park issuing on the spot fines. PCSOs should get involved too. I remember being terrified of the park ranger! Blackpool council should protect our beautiful parks and wildlife instead of just talking the talk."
