A popular busker has challenged a district council to review its policies after he was issued a direction to leave notice for 24 hours following complaints he was causing a nuisance. Musician and songwriter Wes Dolan, who has been busking in Mansfield for more than 20 years, said he was "unfairly treated" by Mansfield District Council.
Mr Dolan, who comes from a family of musicians, told Nottinghamshire Live: "It is my family tradition. My dad and my uncle were also buskers, and I started performing when I was 17. Mr Dolan said there is a "long way to go" to protect the vibrant music scene in Mansfield - but that he is "proud of the progress made". He added: "Obviously, things are ongoing in terms of figuring out the new approach to the code, but it was nice to have the people show up, the musicians and the rest of the public show their support in the first place.
"He is trying to spend his time to bring nothing but happiness to people with his music. He is very happy after the meeting with the councillors - so I am feeling very positive as a result of the meeting."
